Bergamot
(Aurantium bergamia)
Known for its elegant, distinctive fragrance, Bergamot is believed to have originated in Southern Italy. It was a prized ornamental feature in the gardens of well-to-do families, flowering between March and May. The fruit is a hybrid of two varieties of oranges, Citrus aurantium and Citrus medica, and its peel has been used for centuries in perfumes: in fact, it was among the ingredients in the first-ever Eau de Cologne, created by German perfumier Johann Maria Farina in 1709. Today, it’s often used in aromatherapy.
Evening Primrose
(Oenothera biennis)
Evening Primrose contains omega-6 fatty acids, which, when applied topically, offer nourishing and softening benefits. In skin care, it’s often used for its emollient properties, helping to keep skin soft and supple while minimizing water loss. Evening Primrose oil’s high concentration of linoleic acid is believed to aid in evening skin tone.
